designing and implementing a 3D indoor navigation web application
Authors
Abstract:
During the recent years, the need arises for indoor navigation systems for guidance of a client in natural hazards and fire, due to the fact that human settlements have been complicating. This research paper aims to design and implement a visual indoor navigation web application. The designed system processes CityGML data model automatically and then, extracts semantic, topologic and geometric information including stairs plan, indoor spaces usage and how these spaces are connected together, subsequently, the routing graph is created using the extracted information. The CityGML data model, graph analysis and routing have been implemented on the server side by the use of Python programming language and the client side was developed by the web client languages HTML, JavaScript, Jquery and AJAX. 3D building modeling and navigation in 3D indoor space using Cesium virtual globe can be considered as exclusive specifications of the designed architecture. In addition, besides the calculated 3D route, a graphical user interface for visual guidance is offered in the web application. Automatic process on the CityGML data model for graph creation and routing by the developed engine in the current research eliminates the need for any additional software for such calculations. Running on any devices exploits a web browser is another advantage of the designed and implemented web application that make it a cross-platform service for indoor 3D navigation.

Modelling And Implementing Macro Web Navigation Structures
From the three existing dimensions content objects, navigation and presentation of web pages, the navigation dimension is analysed. It consists of macro, meso and micro navigation. A conceptual approach to model and implement the macro navigation structure of web sites is presented. We start by enhancing a function decomposition diagram to model the macro navigation structure. The resulting gra...
full textSpatial subdivision of complex indoor environments for 3D indoor navigation
As we realize that we spend most of our time in increasingly complex indoor environments, applications to assist indoor activities (e.g. guidance) have gained a lot of attention in the recent years. The advances in ubiquitous computing made possible the development of several spatial models intending to support context-aware and fine-grained indoor navigation systems. However, the available mod...
full textConception of a 3D Geodata Web Service for the Support of Indoor Navigation with GNSS
This paper addresses the concept of a 3D Geodata Web Service for the support of indoor navigation with satellite-based positioning systems like Galileo or GPS. The presented work is part of a project called INDOOR, which principally aims at the support of satellite positioning and navigation within buildings. The intended web service shall provide 3D building data to mobile clients, where it wi...
full textDesigning Intuitive Multi-touch 3D Navigation Techniques
Multi-touch displays have become commonplace over recent years. Numerous applications take advantage of this to support interactions that build on users' knowledge and correspond to daily practices within the real world. 3D applications are also becoming more common on these platforms, but the multitouch techniques for 3D operations often lag behind 2D ones in terms of intuitiveness and ease of...
